for more than 15 years now, steve bug is known for influential track somewhere in between house, techno and minimalism. with his very good sense for the energy of self-limitation, bug has set standards when it comes to the funk of modern sound geometry, especially with his imprint poker flat recordings. milestones such as >loverboy<, >monsterbaze< or >wet n dry< are now essential elements of the history of electronic dance music. only a few weeks after the release of his fourth album collaboratory, bug even tops that one with this 12 inch on cocoon: while look whos stalking obviously refers to steves close relation to the raw energy of u.s. house in between chicago trax and detroit, using driving hand claps, percussions and nasty vocals, the flipside zero balance could pass as a vision of how far you can reduce techhouse to the essence of a bass line. also here, short vocal loops - besides the fast-moving elements - complete a sensibility that makes bugs tracks such high quality music for a very long time now.

it was only a short time ago when these 2 young up and comers made their respective debuts on our label and in the few months between then and now, they have gone on to skyrocket up through the ranks, conquering dancefloors, charts and dj crates-while becoming household names synonymous with quality and consistency.
florian kruse and nils nürnberg need very little introduction these days but for those that have been asleep or living under a rock, a good start would be to check their recent output on fine labels such as nrk, om, moodmusic, dessous and our very own dieb, to name a very select few. their first combined effort on the label has resulted in the >suerte ep<, a tight collection of deep as hell, tech infused house numbers heavily characterized by their attention to groove and addictive, seductive chord progressions that have become a hallmark of their production prowess.
to add some spice to an already sterling and stylized package, we have enlisted our good friend (and also mood music alumnus) alexander maier, to remix the titular >suerte< where he adds his considerable musical vocabulary to the proceedings, peppering a very tasty arrangement with piano chord stabs and throbbing basslines resulting in a gorgeous, summery house re-interpretation that has to be heard to be believed!
as if this werent enough, fresh from an impressive debut on nils and florians save room records we have been lucky enough to secure a percussion led, funk infused remix of >achieving balance< from bright new boys on the block io who round things off nicely and add another dimension to the >suerte ep<.

supported by laurent garnier, ben watt, dj yellow, shur i kan, nils nurnberg, florian meindl, mark knight, axwell!!! looking through my harddrive i just realized that this track is more than 2 years old ... shame on us!!! a few people were lucky enough to got it sent back then and the feedback was already exciting! the original version is a pure deephouse anthem drenched with pure soul! starting off with a moody and dark filtered string it leads into a pumpin deephouse groove ready to climax into a beautiful rhodes chord progression and that lovely m.u.s.i.c. vocal. its a perfect blend between deephouse and soul - pretty rare these days and set to become a future classic!! fred everythings mix is slightly more on the disco tip, tight drums and arrangement and a perfect addition to this package. finally we have another colab between the 2 label heads - called electric girl. its a sweet little disco midtempo groover with the typical trademarks of those 2 guys! enjoy this beautiful release - many people have been asking for this for quite a while!!

nice price deal !!! the latest new comers from barcelona are sw eden born pow erduo of marco gegenheimer and jens rosengren aka gegenheimer & jenius. both of them are active in the spanish house scene and have been creating a havoc w ith their record label collective ourvision w hich released the excellent archimboldo from fellow sw ede axel boman. the tracks they offered to moodmusic have a simple message of floor dominance w ith musical values and they?ve proven to w ork fairly w ell on recent moodmusic nights at panorama bar and sonar. starting w ith basic shape, a tech-housey, almost early techno feel takes over w ith phasing keys and dry drumprogramming w ith a big break w ith lends a few notes from detroit city. cadaquÚs has a more house feel to it, still keeps the groove as main point w ith stabbing keys and a beautiful theme taking you on a trip to almost mr fingers territory. the closing track ips has been a sureshot favourite at the moodmusic hq since w e got it, a classic deep house track of pure quality w hich show s the musical roots of these talented producers. watch out

the tracks on this new 12 inch build on the momenetum, with two tracks of stripped down dancefloor killers - >yeah!< is a monster builder, all todd edwards style swing and tight edits with crazy deep kicks, chopped up vocals, old school piano stabs, soaring strings, and hands in the air breakdowns. already being played out by drop the lime (check his latest exclusive mix for fact magazine where he opens his set with >yeah!<). >head work< on the b side is on more of a masters at work/harddrive era tip - deep garage beats tripping over themselves, burbling oddity synths, shuffling snares and the weirdest vocal melody breakdown/build-up ever!
the originals are complimented on the 12 inch by two remixes - tvo takes yeah! to another dimension altogther with a head destroying 140bpm hardcore junglist remix. on the flip, san franciscos eats tapes take >head work< into the wonkiest area of minimalist techno, showcasing their totally unique take on future groove.

another fresh face for the vastness we like to call minimal techno. a few months ago, javier logares tracks for bar 25s little sub-sister bar25digital went down a storm, so it was about time to introduce his music to the vinyl world of bar 25.
>elastic doll< is a cheeky bouncing piece of minimal techno with a marching bassline and a handful of dancing bleeps at all the right places. this elastic doll will lure you right into afterhour debauchery.
on >the wrong clue< javier dims the lights and sets a more haunting tone with an eerie synth-melody and bleeps, that slowly but surely crawl up your spine. seriously tripping stuff this is.

a little less than two and a half years after its conception—and close to 30 singles, one compilation, one mix cd and one sublabel later—berlins mobilee releases its first artist album. naturally, who better to represent the milestone than pan-pot, who so far have delivered five essential singles to mobilee, helping to anchor the ever-shifting sound of one of europes most exciting labels. in just two short years, with 10 singles (for mobilee and einmaleins musik) and lots of remixes, theyve become known far and wide for their distinctive, groovy, and above all ominous sound. pan-o-rama finds the boys stretching that sound in every possible direction: twisting, tearing, and using the shreds to drag a wide swath of techno history into the future (and, just maybe, to drag a few pieces of techno future back into the past). call it minimal if you must, but this aint no clickity-clack shit. you can hear the agonized gurgle of isolationist acid, reminiscent of plastikmans darkest nights. you can hear the percolating urgency of classic bleep techno. tried and true hardware collides with restless digital experimentation as dance musics dna worms its way into twisted new shapes. pan-o-rama is dark, thats for damned sure. eerie vocals that seem to come from within the listeners own head creep across the stereo field. throughout, restrained minor-key melodies conjure 21st century noir, and a relentless low-end rumble seems to suck up all the light around it

clouded vision is turbo recordings and bugged out! resident matt walsh and partner, steve cook. after remixes for the likes of moby, cari lekebusch and brodinski on turbo, plus further releases for toob, we have band, king roc, johnny dynel and the golden filter to name a few, they now have their first full ep. neon rain is a slow tempo dark disco number and is backed with remixes from dissidents the niallist and astronomer. the niallist takes the track into space cosmic summerness and astronomer adds some big synth patterns, an emotional breakdown and even a rain sample. this is the first of a series of clouded vision releases with the upcoming outside ep with remixes from 4o thieves and photonz!

next month we celebrate our 5th anniversary here at dirt crew and we are very pleased to have marc romboy - whos systematic imprint also turned 5 this year - team up with smokin jo to deliver this marvellous two tracker. >what is this?< is a strong tech-house gem, slowly building, pumping groove and with a great sax sample. very recognisable and been doing a really good job on the dancefloors in our sets over the last few months. solid stuff ! as a b-side there is a much deeper and musically more diverse lee jones remix, lee has been one of our favourite producers in the last years with his solo work on labels like aus, liebe * detail and especially his my my project on playhouse, we are very pleased to have him on our label for the very first time with this excellent re-interpretation of >what is this?<

after almost a year hiatus the detroit grand pubahs are back with their detelefunk label. detelefunk being an abbreviation for detroit (det) electronic (ele) funk, they relaunch their imprint with a remixes series of some of their favourite producers remixing tracks from their last 3 albums. hence the title of the series being made up of words from all these album giving us the funtastic “buttfunkula and the remixes from earth”. this is the first of 2 volumes / eps that will offer new remixes, leading into a remix compilation featuring the finest remixes of the pubahs music from over the years. volume 1 sees the minimal originator himself, robert hood, take the reigns and remix the title track from the pubahs debut album >funk all y all<, while detroits underground resistance / interstellar fugitives dj 3000 takes one of paris the black fus first tracks >stalking you< (previously released on throw) and adds his albanian rhythms. finally, last but by no means least swedens samuel l session takes time out from producing for his own klap klap label to deliver this peak time dancefloor remix of the infamous >dr bootygrabber<. promising to take robert hood, dj 3000 and samuel l sessions on a galactic ass trip in their star ship was paris the black fu & the mysterious mr os way of getting them to do remixes. >now all i have to do is get them to deliver< comments paris from his secret lab >i do plan to bring them home after the remixes have been released. working with these artists has been a goal of ours for the past few years, and now that they ve been abducted may the funk be with all of us<

hailing from miami, dynas has been a creative force within the south florida music community. originating from new york city and born of caribbean parents, dynas has a variety of influences in his music. he has been credited as a true master of ceremonies able to rock a crowd of few to many. he has hosted and performed with the likes of a tribe called quest, nas, and wu tang clan. noted for his ability to visually depict urban tales with melodious harmonies. his artistry is head and shoulders above the normal top 40 music landscape. he has collaborated with def jam recording artists slick rick and universal recording artists big gipp of the goodie mob as well as masta ace.

the third instalment of the apres vinyl series explores the indie disco dimensions of future classics 2 year old sunday afternoon session in sydney. when we commissioned gemma smith to produce four artworks for the series this angular and intense piece sat well with the spiky hot chip meets junior boys disco punk funk of melbourne 3 piece clubfeet. it also worked with adelaides sidwho, another promising newcomer whos recent 12inch on cage & aviarys the walls have ears imprint got rave reviews from horse meat disco, mock & toof, tim sweeney and optimo to name a few. millionaire is an early taster of the pop sensibilities of sids forthcoming solo album with future classic. sids also a member of the modular signed live disco act the swiss. chad and nathan took some time out from the future classic hq to turn in a remix of millionaire together with good friend bryan o callaghan who also happens to be head chef at the tilbury where aprÞs is held. bryan quickly became a firm friend of future classic after mudd and aeroplane were booked for sets at apres with bryan seeking us out, immediately impressing us with his unparalleled knowledge of rare disco and groove. last but definitely not least (since it made the a1) came pink frosts remix of evening star by another local sydney band todd sparrow. after a heavy vinyl digging session at redeye records,the stores vinyl buyer scott, handed nathan a cdr and the call was made then and there and we had our third apres release - an intentionally all australian installment!

the strictly vinyl only crusade continues with the forthcoming release from mukatsuku records in the shape of the string laden disco bomb real clothes from the japanese producer ryota nozaki under his jazztronik personna. nik has a long history with jazztronik after having compiled with jake benhan the jazztronik inner flight album back in 2001 for counterpoint records and having djd with the live jazztronik band and ryota as a dj several times in japan and uk over the last few years.

redux hit their 9th release with the second offering from the very talented musician/ songwriter known simply as fernando. first appearing on the label with his solid cover of kick in the eye by legendary goth rockers bauhaus. fernando gained instant support from many djs and tastemakers, showing the world that he got the full package when it comes to being a talented recording artist .now hes back again to unleash the first of his original solo material from his forthcoming debut album, guaranteed to be a firm favourite with disco stallions , pump rockers and bearded ladies. scarecrows kicks the e.p off , setting the tone immediately with a rock steady bass groove , crisp synth stabs and catchy vocal snippets (from another famous goth influence) sprinkled on top that will stick in your head for days .bladerunner ups the energy a notch with some lively drums and a beefy bassline sure to shake any waistline (one size fits all). weird trippy textures and surging synth sounds keep it moving and occupy your brain whilst the groove kidnaps your feet and hips on the dancefloor.on remix duty is croatia s leading light and all round nice guy ilija rudiman. taking a slightly different approach for scarecrows, giving the track a deeper, moody feeling but still keeping the essence of the original. subtle pads and acid lines weave in and out as the groove pushes on and draws you closer in, dropping in to the break down and sending you off singing doop doop doop do do. this 12inch clearly showcases some of the freshest talent thats coming through the ranks and will instantly appeal to fans of reverso 68, tensnake and emperor machine to name a few strong examples. if youre feeling this then be sure to keep an eye/ear out for fernandos debut album coming soon on reduxà. this is just a taster

following up the intrusion & paul st. hilaire project comes a new release from the intrusion imprint which offers a killa selection of steppas riddims and tropical grooves. intrusions >velocity in a minor< is all about being playful with a sequence, splicing a riddim, stimulating the mind while shuffling your feet. this concludes with the mysterious lo-fi soundsystem up next who make their first 12 inch appearance on intrusion (previously recording under a variety of names strictly on 45) their powerful >de lions den< has been given a second lease on life from its scarce 45 release, (which was only available at a few small record shops in jamaica) this island groove is filled with the dankiest skanks, a melodica on acid and a bassline deeper than the ocean. this mystical midnight groove is given a rework in a 4/4 rhythm and effects from deep space, behind the controls is intrusion front man stephen hitchell who leaves us with a tasty embellishment in fat riddims and icey cold electronics. the b side opens with mildious >de natura rerum< which crosses into territory comparable to intrusions >tswana dub< or the atmospheric dub side of rhythm & sound, a powerful mind melter which does all the rights things in all the right time. the closing >oceanview< paints a picture of just that, leaving you to wander off into the ocean breeze while sinking into its smoky green vapour haze.

so the story goes: a few years ago i played a cool underground party in stockholm with my good friend and crazy record collector mark seven. early on that night mark played me this beautiful and melancholic piece of music. mark happily handed me his spare copy and my record collection for a second felt a little more complete… originally released as a b side track to als slipshod ep on out of the loop the track continued to mesmerize whenever i played it and the fact that so many people loved it and equally as many didnt know the record i though a re release could be a great idea. its inclusion on gerd jansons recent sonar kollektiv compilation and the fact that its been played by legendary dj harvey ( o bearded one as hes known to by the initiated) has obviously helped to spread its fame to. the previously issued part 1 with the original and bogdan irkük remixes has gone down a storm with all the cool movers and shakers... oh yeah baby. now its time for the last chapter with equally mindboggling gatto fritto remix, mark sevens version and my own just plain silly rework. toodle oooo, thomas(oslo, 7th of august 2009)

ironic? no, it’s dead serious: sally shapiro keeps on dreaming of barbie and ken. sometimes good things come to those who wait, as is the case with sally shapiro. one shouldn’t really imagine the bashful swede from göteborg, who never performs live, setting a new trend for turning down lucrative offers. and the thought that she is working on something hip, is most likely even a little eerie for her. after all, she s just into something, which she’s been doing since her childhood in the 1980s — singing songs in the style of her idol sandra (”maria magdalena“). if she hadn’t met her companion johan agebjörn, who despite his musical socialization with techno in the 1990s has been deep into italo disco for the past few years and is a collector of zyx records, sally’s passion for synthi songs and fairy-like female vocals would have remained private. however, johan was screwing together some italo-style songs when he asked sally (whose voice he’d only heard from a previous christmas party karaoke) if she would improvise on his soft keyboard tunes, their collaboration was a done deal.
subsequent to their first releases on the labels diskokaine and permanent vacation, sally shapiro suddenly found herself in the midst of the ultra-hip neo/italo-disco movement, which is especially big in scandinavia. why of all things on the northern peninsula, where one traditionally listens to black metal and indie rock played with legs spread apart, the peculiar, yet sunny disco music became such an export hit, stays one of the mysteries of the pop business. it’s a fact, though, that next to internationally celebrated norwegian neodisco-heroes lindström, prins thomas and todd terje, the lovely sally has become the scandinavian disco-act in the mean time.

westpark unit (aka herb lf & ingo saenger) are back with their annual release on farside records after some work for labels like dessous, tjumy, future classic or fear of flying. this time, they provide 4 brandnew trax for the vinyl edition. more forever might be familiar to a few people that followed the music of westpark unit over the years. the tune is a special rework of their first ever limited 12inch release forever back in 2002 on draft recordings. more forever took some of the original deep harmonies, keeps parts of the piano loop and the beautiful sampled hook and should be a soulful bomb on the 2009 floors. even deeper 45 grows and grows with a very intensely chord, takes you on a trip with its driving bassline and is the other dubby deep house tune here. the first demo version received some nice feedback / chartings / plays from djs like dplay, matt flores or shur i kan. while speaking of house (not house), jam hot and familiar sequence are musically caught somewhere in between the styles. jam hot might be more funk than house with sexy 104 bpm, is bouncing like hell and keeps the crowd shaking and moving. familiar sequence appeals to the disco fanatics out there, has a little of a balearic vibe and is also keeping things slow. both tunes are the perfect startup into the night. we think this is the right tempo for party anyway.

mexican techno veteran luis flores makes his debut appearance on the droid recordings label with dain brammage. as both an artist andmusical catalyst, luis has shared many ideals with the members of droid. after many years of pushing progressive concepts that are both innovative and non conforming, luis has developed his own production style that is precise, hypnotic, and maintains a healthy degree of dance floor groove. his title track is a deep journey into psychedelia and unearthly bass. brammage contains only a few essential elements, each tripped toperfection. sparse eerie vocals carry nicely along the 6 minute sequence. flores inside track the call is a slow and steady builder with dark subtle vibes and crisp hand claps. at four minutes flores introduces a rippling synth gate that trips listeners deeper into submission. very heady, very essential

afu limited welcomes alex long to it s artist catalogue and he starts with two slammin and cool technotracks with ultra trippy vocals! there is not much need to say anything about these tracks, just listen and enjoy the trip through the space age with a fast beating heart! since he was young, he has always been impressed by the sounds of the synths, electro pop and later on acid house. in the beginning of the 90ies, when the slovenian electronic scene was still in the making, he was a regular guest in the legendary k4 and palma in slovenia. he was taken further into the world in 1998 when he took his first steps behind the turntables and he has been producing music since 2004. since then, he has had quite a few releases and remixes for different record labels. he has dj gigs with huge names of the electronic scene and in large festivals in slovenia and became the official slovenian hero of the future in 2007 at the disconautica festival.he spends much of his time in his studio, where his thoughts are converted into notes and melodies, and as he often states, he finally found a style that suits him and always finds a challenge in. what is that style? he doesn t like to be defined by a specific music style, as he prefers and is influenced by many different genres of electronic music. alex long is definitely a name we will hear of in the future!

urban nomad tolga fidan continues vakants limited series valt with a much sought-after track which has been around for a while. fidan, just moved to berlin a few weeks ago, says >so long paris< in such unique style that that we hope he will never leave berlin again. vakants valt series has been kicked off last year with onur Ízer and keeps on delivering music straight for the dancefloor.

with this new ep tom clark makes an impressive return to the highgrade release program. following a collaboration with marcus schatz and most recently with benno blome, he now comes back as a solo artist. after only a few beats, you’ll be sure to recognise his signature sound. tom needs surprisingly few elements to build a unique atmosphere and his matchless grooves. on the title track “scorpio“ we find a deep, rolling bassline and a slightly orientally influenced vocal, combined with the typically unique clarkish synth leads, and we’re ready to go. it’s a track that continually keeps the excitement moving while never letting the cat out of the bag, and more than deserves the a-side. then we come to “albino“, also featuring sparkling synths and rolling drums that create an impression of fluidity and an unhurried beginnings, but we also end up in a waterfall… who would have known!? in conclusion comes “sand flea“, as lively as a box of fleas, but not nearly as aggrivating! mister clark is again at his best, with a love for detail, an innate sence for strange sounds and an a significant quantity of leisurely energy, this tune also really hits the mark. this is not the work of a newbie who produces an aggressive sound to prove his talents. the result is the feature of this ep: seldom has an understatement sounded so fresh. + digital-only bonus track “12 notes“!

our man from italy hits base again! he was the first house-agent that weÆve send out on a pure digital upon you mission. he mastered it with such bravory that our headquater see it worthwhile to hit session two on vinyl. in phase a1 he successfully recovered a hole row of bad house replicates under the code name ôshadittzö to bring back the good taste. ôback from the middleö is the motto in phase a2, essentially contributing the bust of a few lousy tech-house bosses that where about to sell scuzzy loops to minors. his work was very useful for us and an easy seizing for mr. superbrain tolga fidan who could complete the mission as our remix profiler.

this is the one you ve all been waiting for, the bad science ep from the mighty rustie. amazingly enough for an artist who has such an huge impact over the last year this is only his second full ep. i could go for on days about how good it is but best not eh. it all kicks off with the fractured hip-hop weirdness of tar and then swiftly moves into the massive bad science. we ve been seeing folk go crazy to bad science and rightly so, its an anthem and has getting properly hammered by kode9 and mark pritchard to name a few. its then on to the out there 8 bit bleepage of shadow enter. the b-side is now dedicated to the now legendary zig-zag and wireblock have really done themselves pround with this one by going straight to one of rustie s hero s the legendary henrich mueller (dopperleffekt, drexciya, arpanet etc) to add his own electro-physics sound to the aquatic mentalness of the original track. it comes to an end with zig zag (reprise), now the original was daft enough but this just to pushes it even further into new realms of madness. buy, buy, buy!

slam bring us the third chapter in their devestating paragraph series, following up their dancefloor destroyer, hot knives that was played by the biggest djs around and dubbed as one of carl craig s favourites of the last few months. the label s previous releases have already had big support from the rest of the techno fraternity, including legends richie hawtin, adam beyer, dubfire, anja schneider, len faki and francois kevorkian.
paragraph number 3 delivers some deep, bass-heavy electronic funk on the a-side, with one note samba . grooving from the off-set, the percussive elements of the track wind around a solid and heavy sub bass, introducing dubbed-out horns reminiscent of slam s freelance science days. hypnotic and tripped out, slam return to their house roots.
on the aa room 2 , dedicated to one of the world s best clubs, fabric, where slam hold a residency, keeps with the stripped-down, rhythmic and gritty sound of paragraph. whilst constantly fluctuating echoes and delays control the rhythm of the track, a swirling, yet straight to the point synth creates some frenzied and panic-inducing builds throughout, leading to a wholesome and satisfying ride cymbal. room 2 is a killer, peak-time track that will be sure to induce some serious convulsions on dance-floor.

sometimes a track is so hot it just has to come back around again. about ten years ago brett johnson and dave barker (stucco homes) wrote some unbelievably catching house tunes, one of them being temptation and lies. so it just seemed right to give this track yet another life. deadbeat and mike shannon dive deep into a stripped down techno groover, removing the constant use of the vocals and creating a rolling techno dub version. some seriously deep bass in the production that works the subs in all the right places. ernesto ferreyra and guillaume coutu dumont aka chic miniature give you a playful melodic version on the flip. full use of the original chord progressions, combined with the guys signature marimba/latin percussion leaving you with a lush, warm summer hit. then brett dives into the track again giving you the oohs and ahhs mix. a ten minutes work out with bjs patented groove focused on the vocal harmonies in the original. the result is a warped, spaced out, long player that is sure to twist a few heads. mental just about sums it up. of course we had to include the original masterpiece for those who didnt find it the first time round. a favorite of everyone involved on the remix project i think youll agree that the temptation and lies cynosure mixes do the original some justice.
